Sample 1:

Both politicians and individuals are responsible for protecting the environment and curbing damages. While some argue that politicians and mankind make no difference in constructing a friendly-environment, I totally disagree with this stance and assert that both governments and individuals contribute largely to preserving the environment.

Incorrectly seeing short-term profits and results, proponents of politicians and persons having tiny contributions are short-sighted. Doubtless, repairing an ecosystem that has been destroyed is a perennial process, so humans need to have enough patience to implement actions step by step. This way, effective results will sooner appear.

Huge impacts are made by officeholders. Firstly, large infrastructural changes needed for significant environmental impact can mostly be overseen and funded by governments. For example, research on finding alternative sources of fresh water is urgent since the grave water scarcity. Both glacial water and desalinated slat water hold huge potential as vast sources of water, however, these techniques are too expensive to allocate, so only official institutions and wealthy men can afford them. Moreover, governments can release reasonable policies and regulations, constraining actions that instill large contamination to the environment and offering incentives to ecosystem-friendly shops like reducing taxation.

Individuals also contribute to constructing the environment. Firstly, uninformed or misinformed about the baneful influence that individuals’ daily activities injury the ecosystem is the culprit of environmental problems. Individual actions such as reusing or rejecting plastic packing items, shutting down taps quickly and conserving fossil fuels accumulate together and make a significant difference. Furthermore, education and personal responsibility towards the environment can foster a culture of sustainability among the populace. For instance, in China, there are ubiquitous banners saying, green mountains and clear water are gold mountains and pupils in schools are required to recite methods about protecting the environment.

In conclusion, not only officeholders but individuals are responsible for being conservationists. Although the result only can be seen in the long-term, they both produce huge contributions from past to present.

Sample 2:

Environmental problems have risen alarmingly worldwide. Many believe that people individually have less power to solve this phenomenon. I disagree with those who argue that this responsibility belongs only to politicians because a comprehensive collaboration is urgently needed.

Global environmental damage is a huge problem. It is indeed that politicians have a major voice in influencing people and government. They could address a new regulation to prevent and reduce this damage. Nevertheless, the number of politicians is too small and probably accounts for one-third of the population. Without real movement and changes, the regulation would only be a piece of written argument. For example, the Safe the Earth campaign declared by the politicians on television would be useless if there is little to no support from individuals. Therefore, a collaborative action is necessary and needs to be considered.

On the other hand, a small impact by each individual on earth can bring profound change. The accumulation of real continuous movement will result in a greater positive impact. In order to solve a global problem, recent studies show that the involvement of all stakeholders are critical. All layers ranging from individuals to politicians, international bodies, and government are responsible for taking action together. An effort to reduce household products, recycling plastic bottles, reusing bags, and wise use of electricity are examples of individual responsibility for tackling environmental problems. Moreover, the community awareness of environmental-friendly action in developed countries like Europe is also great evidence of how individuals could successfully be part of the Safe Earth movement.

In conclusion, preventing and reducing environmental damage is the responsibility of all human beings. Even though politician has strong power, this problem is considerably unable to be solved only by them. Therefore, an inclusive movement involving individuals should be addressed.

Sample 3:

Some people think that politicians should be responsible for protecting the environment as there is nothing much that individuals can do about this problem. In my opinion, the responsibility to protect the environment should not fall upon politicians alone because ordinary citizens can make a significant contribution.

Firstly, politicians can urge the government to impose new laws against actions that damage the environment. For instance, one of the major factors leading to environmental pollution is the overuse of plastic products, like bottles and bags, and this can be stopped if the government issues an official ban on all companies from using plastic packaging. In addition, the rate of deforestation can also be reduced if high-ranking bureaucrats agree to impose strict punishments, such as long-term imprisonment and heavy fines, on those who cut down trees illegally. However, besides introducing and enforcing new laws and regulations, I doubt that there is any further action that politicians can take to protect the environment.

On the other hand, I believe that ordinary people, through small, everyday actions, can also greatly contribute to protecting the environment. First, citizens in many countries, like the Netherlands, have now shifted towards using bicycles and subway trains for their daily travel instead of cars, which has so far helped reduce a tremendous amount of CO2 released into the air, and improved air quality. Second, the problem of polluted oceans has also been tackled in many places thanks to groups of young people who voluntarily spend their time cleaning up beaches, or even diving into water to pick up trash. For example, many students in Nha Trang, a coastal city of Vietnam, spent nearly their whole summer holiday in 2018 keeping the beaches of their hometown clean by collecting all the trash from tourists, and even banned Chinese people from entering certain areas to prevent them from littering.

In conclusion, I hold the view that politicians alone cannot deal with all environmental problems, and therefore individuals should also make a contribution to protecting our environment.

Sample 4:

Many people think that governments should hold accountable for environmental protection as individuals just play an insignificant role. I disagree with this idea for some reasons.

Of course, if governments get involved with fighting global environmental damage, they can make a world of difference. There should be strict legislation which can impose coercive effect on individuals. For example, Singapore is well-known for the healthiest and cleanest environment. This is because the government imposes a severe penalty to fine heavily anyone who does things harmful to the local environment.

On the other hand, some people believe that our small individual actions often seem insignificant compared to official measures, and we can do nothing to look after the environment. However, individual actions can prove more effective than they think. If each avoids driving their own car for short journeys, takes public transportation, and walks or cycles instead, the use of fossil fuels and the level of contaminated air will be reduced to some extent. Another example is that many people stop using plastic bags as it is a hazardous pollutant of the soil, and they take eco-friendly substitutes such as paper or cloth bags into consideration. These examples show that individuals making compromises to green their lifestyles can play an important role towards environmental protection.

In conclusion, when it comes to environmental problems, governments should take responsibility, but I think that individual actions are indispensable in the problem-solving process. The idea of making people responsible for environmental protection should be promoted in every country.

Sample 5:

It is believed that only governments have the power to solve environmental problems that are posing serious threats to today’s world. However, I think that protecting the earth is the responsibility of both governments and individuals.

It is true that some environmental issues are too big for individuals to deal with. In order for serious problems, such as global warming, prolonged droughts, violent storms or other extreme weather events, to be effectively addressed, it requires the efforts and cooperation of politicians and large environmental organizations. This is because solving such problems requires special equipment, the use of modern technological devices and large numbers of experienced scientists to work together. For instance, it takes years for researchers to collect various samples and analyse huge amounts of data in order to know the major causes of global warming, and to help them find the most effective solutions to tackle this problem. Only governments can have sufficient funds and resources to invest in this.

However, I believe that individuals also need to take responsibility for environmental protection. As individuals, we can help in various ways, such as recycling more, buying more energy-efficient household items or planting more trees in our gardens. I think that without the cooperation of both politicians and individuals, environmental issues will never be effectively tackled. For example, if farmers continue to burn forests for their own purposes, regardless of the government’s regulations, the problem of climate change will never be successfully mitigated.

In conclusion, for the reasons mentioned above, I believe that protecting the environment is the obligation of both politicians and individuals.

Sample 6:

Damage to the global environment is increasing at an alarming rate. Some people argue that government officials should be mainly held accountable for environmental protection, since little can be done by ordinary people. However, I believe although politicians do have a crucial role to play in addressing this problem, individual contributions are by no means negligible.

The fundamental part of governments in mitigating environmental damage is effective policy implementation on both domestic and international levels. By enacting laws and measures regarding global environmental issues, such as emission control, waste treatment practices, and sanctuaries for endangered species, policy makers are able to take concrete actions to realize sustainable development, because these policies act as guidelines for individuals and private sectors in their daily activities. Besides, it is politicians who can make sure sufficient funding is allocated in that regard, in order to support and sustain environmental actions which have strong reliance on continuous investment. In essence, politicians can make a difference on a much bigger picture than individuals.

However, government policies and spending ultimately rely on public support, without which all efforts would be in vain. A convincing evidence is that similar environmental policies often have various outcomes in different countries, largely due to the level of public participation. When people have greater environmental awareness, they would be more willing to comply with relevant laws and regulations. Another responsibility of Individuals lies with everyday actions to protect the environment. For instance, recycling and reuse help to cut down waste; transport conservation assists in reducing greenhouse gas emissions; economizing energy use in daily life contributes to reducing excessive exploitation of natural resources.

In conclusion, I assert politicians have indisputable responsibility for reducing damage to the environment, but this does not mean that individual efforts are insignificant, since the general public can join hands with the government. Lack of individual participation could mean that addressing environmental issues is beyond reach.

Sample 7:

Climate change has triggered a wide range of natural disasters across the globe, ultimately accelerating environmental degradation. It is argued by some that the onus of preventing this lies more with politicians than with individuals. From my perspective, I contend that individuals should assume a greater level of responsibility in addressing this issue.

First and foremost, it is undeniable that governments have failed to sufficiently address climate change. Politicians not only possess financial resources but also wield significant authority. They have the capacity to revise policies aimed at mitigating actions that contribute to climate change. Furthermore, governments can play a crucial role in raising awareness about the perils of global environmental damage and promoting environmentally friendly lifestyles within society. This can help to foster a greater understanding of the dangers posed by climate change, thereby encouraging more individuals to take proactive measures to safeguard the environment.

Despite the negligence of politicians, individuals have also failed to take effective actions to combat climate change. It is apparent that a substantial number of people still engage in wasteful practices such as excessive water and electricity consumption. While there are existing policies in place to regulate the emission of air pollutants, many factories continue to engage in illicit activities that exacerbate the effects of climate change. For instance, numerous factories indiscriminately discharge significant amounts of industrial wastewater, further deteriorating the environmental situation. Additionally, a considerable portion of the population views global environmental damage as a trivial issue and fails to take any preventive measures. The primary reason for this apathy is the lack of awareness about the severity of climate change.

In conclusion, while it is undeniable that governments have not adequately fulfilled their obligations to address environmental shifts, the primary responsibility rests on individuals due to their lack of attentiveness to this pressing issue.
