Natural disasters are distressing for people and the government. Media agencies seem to play their significant role in capturing attention in dealing with such issues and the aftereffects. Regarding the question of whether the individual needs training to counter such effects, I completely disagree due to the fact such events need capable resources, which are usually beyond the capacity of the common people.
To begin with, the government should encourage better funding and investment for infrastructure in the form of disaster-resistant buildings and overpasses. This means that there will be a minimum number of casualties, resulting from the collision of high-rise constructions. For instance, laws in Japan prohibit constructions, which are not able to survive earthquakes of minimum magnitudes. Consequently, surviving techniques, training and relevant equipment must be in the possession of people, in dealing with the aftereffects of a disaster.
Furthermore, disasters are sometimes not forecasted and happen suddenly, meaning that people will not be aware of the happening or the consequences. In such situations, the state or its funding agencies can play a valuable part. For instance, in Pakistan, various NGOs contributed, in the form of shelter, health care facilities and food supplies for the survivors of an earthquake in 2005. This means that only training could not be helpful, as people were struggling with a wide variety of circumstances.
In conclusion, while sufficient knowledge is required to overcome the effects of natural calamities, the macro level strategies with micro-level initiatives by the government are necessary to counter such effects, as they seem to have a significant effect in saving lives.
Sample 2:
Governments are too sensitive to attention-grabbing tragedies like earthquakes and floods, while some opponents believe that they are not important in comparison with obstacles around our neighbourhoods. Actually, they do not know those disasters cause mass killings.
Allocating a budget and resources to increase the public knowledge about different actions during these kinds of disasters can save lots of lives. Because they are considered serious threats and will kill lots of people. For instance, in the last year, a huge earthquake happened in Turkey. Unfortunately, the number of people who were hurt was high due to a lack of knowledge. As a result, if the government tried to teach them so many people would be alive today.
Additionally, when a disaster hits a country with weak infrastructure, for sure, the damage will be huge. Therefore, authorities should spend an adequate amount of money to renew and rebuild cities to save people’s lives. For example, Japan is an obvious sample that shows how much giving attention to these events is crucial. Every year, they face severe earthquakes with no damage because all buildings in this area are built floating. So they will not be devastated during disasters. In this case, not only government’s attention will prevent people from dying, but also, they can make secure and safe places for their population.
In conclusion, there is no doubt that in our living areas, there would be lots of threats, but big disasters will make more dangerous situations. So, it is vital to persuade governments to use their resources to make people more knowledgeable about how they should act in these times.
Sample 3:
It is sometimes argued whether governments should make citizens aware of any possible situation they are facing and educate them on what to do when a sudden disaster occurred. I completely agree with this idea.
On the one hand, some people might argue that with the rapid growth of global warming and climate change, natural disasters can be unpredictable and varied, so it is difficult to train each and every citizen on how to face that. For example, Henan, a province of China, suffered from devastating floods on July 2021, because of a rare torrential rain that occurred. Passengers were trapped in the subway, and the floods caused landslides and overwhelmed dams and rivers. Even if the government has educated people to mind any signs before floods or what to do when floods occurred, the severity of the floods still makes it impossible for local residents to react.
On the other hand, it is important for individuals to know what was happening all over the world and how to deal with all kinds of disasters, whether the disaster is common in your country or not. For instance, since earthquakes are a frequent phenomenon in Japan, the Government of Japan have put much effort into teaching children and teenagers what to do when an earthquake happens. By doing this, the Japanese would not panic during earthquakes, instead, they know exactly what to do and are calm to face this kind of natural disaster.
In conclusion, I believe that it is the government's responsibility to educate citizens about the risks they are facing near their homeland, while it is also vital to learn how to react no matter what kind of disaster is.
Sample 4:
Nowadays, news headline-grabbing disasters more and more make people feel unsafe instead of bringing the actual headline that educated the people. Headline news such as earthquakes and floods bring fear among the residents, moreover, there is no education from the government to bring understanding to the middle of civilians. I totally agree that educating people to understand the risk they face nearer to home must do, furthermore, it will help to reduce fatality during disasters.
Firstly, the news companies always bring fascinating headlines during disasters on purpose to make it more interesting. In some cases, the news isn't credible at all, such as the picture from another case of disaster. It will get more attention from the readers; however, the point of view will be different from those who face the disasters directly. For example, for citizens under mount Merapi when the mount erupted in 2012, the news brings the eruption is very dangerous and there is no safe place instead so moved to downtown Yogyakarta. Some of the people were evacuated to the city, while another chooses to stay because of feeling hopeless.
On the other hand, there is no education on the way to evacuate the civilians. In this case, the government must take charge of giving the citizens an understanding of the danger. For instance, to know the sign of disasters and also the effect after them. This education must be understood by the people, and they will know the path to evacuation. There is a lot of induction in Indonesia, called as Ring of Fire, by mean, Indonesia will always face natural disasters till the end. In this condition, the citizens must force the government to educate them and save more lives.
In conclusion, the news companies will always make interesting headline-grabbing disasters, in a way to increase the reader. However, Indonesian civilians must be educated by the government and understand how to face disasters instead to believe in the news directly.
