It is true that school children are at an impressionable age, and two strong influences on their intelligence and social development are teachers and parents. While I accept that teachers may have more influence on the intelligence of their pupils, I would argue that parents probably exert a greater influence on the social development of their children.
In terms of encouraging intellectual development and stimulating the intelligence of school children, I believe that teachers play the major role. While not all teachers are capable of inspiring their students, they are trained to impart their knowledge of their subject areas in challenging and imaginative ways. For example, some students owe their lifelong love of a subject to dedicated teachers who taught this discipline in secondary school. Of course, at home, parents may also reinforce this passion by encouraging good study habits during the formative years of their children. Such support is vital for academic achievement.
From the perspective of social development, I think that parents are mainly responsible for guiding their children. Firstly, they spend far more time with their children than any individual teacher is able to do. They can therefore monitor the activities of children outside school hours, at weekends and during holidays. Secondly, parents are able to provide role models in a whole range of situations. These might include showing respect towards elders, choice of friends, or proper behaviour in public when eating out in restaurants.
In conclusion, although teachers probably have a greater effect in stimulating the intelligence of school children, parental influences on the development of children are stronger in social situations.

There is too much debate about whether teachers or parents influence children’s development socially and mentally. While I agree with the idea that teachers play an indispensable role in child development, I believe that parents have a greater impact on children growing up too.
On one hand, teachers are the backbone of the education system. By this I mean that, in most countries children begin to attend school from 5 years old and from this point they emerge from the small family and join the whole society and being part of it, with the presence of professional teacher this could be a huge development in term of social skills such as teamwork and sharing activities. Moreover, through different classes in mathematics and science, for instance, children can learn how to solve a complex problem in a short time, and this is the most important thing for brain development and intelligence. For illustration, it has been calculated that nearly 30% of the whole brain development takes place at this stage of our life.
On the other hand, parents and particularly mothers, as the child stays most of their time with them, play an important constituent in the growth of the child mentality. As a matter of fact, the preschool stage is a crucial stage, and children obtain and store vast amounts of information. Hence, in this period children create their own environment and personality. For instance, children copy their parents in their language and how they interact with each other. Moreover, families can boost their children inelegant and cognitive skills through video games, play, interactive discussion, advice etc. As a result, the crucial role of family is not forgettable.
To conclude, as we have seen. There is no easy answer to this question. However, I tend to believe that both parents and teachers influence children’s social skills and mental development.
Sample 3:
It is a fact that excellent, knowledgeable and experienced teachers will help students to do well in academic learning. However, their parents also have important roles in teaching them. I personally disagree that parents have less influence on their children's intelligence and social development than teachers and the essay will discuss my view.
To begin with, parents are their children's primary care givers and will spend many times with their children; therefore, children will have more chances to learn from them automatically. During school time, children go to school to obtain knowledge by learning different kinds of subjects; however, what they learn are all from textbooks or labs and after school, parents are their mentors in their daily lives and teach their children a variety of thinking skills. For example, children with good parents' support and guidance will do better at schools and have good careers in their future. Moreover, high intelligence is inherited by genes from parents.
In addition, children’s social development includes many contents, such as interpersonal skills, communication skills, and so on. It is definite that teachers will help their students to practice their communication skills via a variety of activities in classes; however, it takes a long time for children to master social skills. Children have been learning these skills since they were born. Their parents are their first teachers. For instance, researches indicate that children whose parents talked to them more in infant time will have better communication skills. These children tend to have a better capacity of expressing themselves.
In conclusion, at school teachers convey many knowledges and all kinds of skills to their students; however, parents pass more knowledges to their children during their lives and teach their children to master social skills. Parents play a more important role in influencing their children to become smarter and more competent than teachers.
Sample 4:
Sometimes a question is being raised that for the overall development of pupils of the school, they generally are better influenced by their educators rather than their parents especially when it comes to their intelligence and developing social skills. Although teachers can be proved beneficial to some extent in this context, the role of parents is far higher in inculcating such skills.
The main reason why parents are better is because they know their toddler very well. To explain, parents from the early days of an offspring used to educate their children about different types of subjects, which further assist them during their schooling days. What's more, they take them to social gatherings and thereby teach them how to behave and respect elders. Since teachers cannot inculcate this in a practical way, they can only improve an adolescent mental level by assisting them in understanding the concepts of their particular subject. Teaching other skills, for instance, requires a great deal of time and effort which a teacher is unable to give because they are also liable to cover their curriculum before exams. Family members, especially parents, are therefore more influencing their juvenile in such skills than that of educators.
Generally, every minor is different and so does their ability to soak instruction given by their teachers. Enhancing mental and social skills is a lifelong process and therefore it would be rather difficult for teachers to teach each and every student presenting in the class. Due to the fact that some can be even reluctant to gain such knowledge, they would create difficulties in creating such an environment for the whole class. Parents, on the other hand, especially fathers are generally strict in nature and know the importance of improving the social and mental development of their juvenile and teach them important life lessons from time to time. Teachers, in stark contrast, cannot be so strict as parents can be so the teenager can better acknowledge what their parents say and therefore parents are better teachers when it comes to mushrooming intelligence and social skills.
In conclusion, even though teachers are providing assistance in constructing their pupil's growth in terms of spreading education, a prominent role is being played by the parents for their infant's mental and social development. As they know their toddler better and thus can guide them accordingly.
Sample 5:
In the social and mental development of school-going children, their teachers and parents have serious impacts. It is highly disputed of whose influence is more on their intellectual level. It is thought by some people that teachers contribute much more to the child's development than his family. In my opinion, although teachers' positions and instruments are crucial, it cannot outrace the parents' role in terms of the intellectual advancement of their children.
In the modern era, school-goings have been spending more than a half of their day in the educational institutes. This results in the interaction between the teacher and the child to be more often and maybe deeper than the child's immediate circle. Moreover, the teaching settings are designed to improve the students' intelligence through educating them, especially in the fields of mathematics and science. Also, play groups are created in kindergartens in order for the young ones to socialize by playing with each other. This beneficial education is done by a professional teaching team. Thereby, teachers play a vital part in the children’s lives. For example, a survey conducted suggests that more than 40 percent of the young-aged men and women has indicated that they learnt most of the knowledge of life from their school teachers as their household have to go to work daily and came home tired.
On the other hand, the parents have an undeniable influence on their offspring's intelligence. Before enrolling in a school, children are always next to their family who show them the distinction of the right and wrong and play games for hours. All these actions are carried out specifically for the children's improvement.
In conclusion, the children are influenced by their school teachers as well as home teachers which are their parents in honing their certain skills. Despite teachers having advantageous effects on improving the youth socially and intellectually, it is an indisputable fact that parents play a more crucial role in bringing up their loved-ones and developing their important social and mind related skills.
Sample 6:
Teachers and parents both play a huge role in a student's success. It is argued that, although it is parents who nurture their children, a tutor has a greater impact on developing their intelligence and social behaviour. This essay agrees that it is the educator that has a superior role than parents both in academics and morals.
Firstly, it is the teacher's task to foster learning. They provide more comprehensive learning and make the student brighter in terms of academic performance. For instance, even though parents have all the information and knowledge regarding the subject, not all of them are equipped with the skills to teach them. Therefore, it is the mentor who can make it easier to comprehend and provide a strong foundation. A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning.
Secondly, teaching not only includes theoretical knowledge but also morals and behaviour. These principles guide a person throughout life and make them better humans. For example, in kindergarten, the little ones are taught to share toys and to greet elders. These are the small steps taken towards becoming a good-hearted adult. Hence, it is commonly said that the influence of a good schoolteacher can never be erased.
In conclusion, it is debatable if it's the mother and father or the teacher who has a bigger effect on school children's intelligence and social upbringing. In the light of the above factors, I firmly believe that the teacher has a larger impact on the child.
Sample 7:
It is a controversial issue as to whether teachers affect children's social development and high IQ, or, whether parents are responsible for youngsters' improvement in gathering knowledge and social advancement. From my perspective, I, holistically, believe that parents are involved in both of these developments instead of preceptors.
To begin with, children spend most of their early life in the care of parents. This is because most of the adolescents start their schooling from the age of four to seven so that this year is crucial for juveniles to develop their mental ability and to interact with society. For example, studies have shown that 90% of children's upbringing is dependent on their guardians who prefer to raise themselves with proper attention and care. Hence, whatever a child learns at an early age, its credit goes to the progenitor, because when he opens his eyes at first, he sees his parent first, not teachers.
Another argument is that children develop their skills in the range of socioeconomic culture. The factors of socioeconomic are hobbies, society and food habits of youngsters who get from their family. However, it is an integral part of the topic of where children belong to. The reason is that the more polished and educated the family would be, the more knowledgeable and friendly the attitude of that child would possess. The first influence of the factor is that parents, for instance, select better teachers and schools for gaining a comprehensive idea of how-to live-in community and gathering wisdom. Thus, for giving children a better position in society, nutrients in food items, and attitude towards hobby-related activities, guardians are, astronomically, responsible.
In conclusion, to be knowledgeable and societal relies on parents in lieu of teachers, so far as I am concerned. On the contrary, advocates believe that the school teachers are largely impacting on children's higher wisdom and the advancement in the community rather than parents.
Sample 8:
It is argued that teachers in preschools and primary schools exert more effect on intelligence and social skills of children than parents. While I agree with the viewpoint, I believe that parents probably have a great impact on the development of their offspring.
There are a number of reasons why teachers are able to encourage their students to develop intelligence and social skills. The most obvious evidence is that children go to school in order to learn subjects regarding society or logic, including math or literature. Therefore, teachers who are trained professionals can tailor teaching styles suitable for their students with the aim of supporting them in having a good grasp of their subjects. Furthermore, social development is likely to be enhanced through mixing with other students, so teachers can aid their students in creating interaction between the students. For example, by making several teams in a class to do a task, the students are capable of developing teamwork skills.
I consider that parents still play a vital role in social development and intelligent improvement of children. First, parents can provide extracurricular activities for their children by enrolling them in extra classes. For instance, parents are able to bring their offspring to English classes beyond schools; as a result, the children are likely to develop communication skills and improve English, by virtue of approaching native speakers and other friends at the classes. Second, the intelligence of children can be developed via nutrients. Consequently, parents may provide their children vitamins, which exert positive impacts on children's brain, by spending an amount of money on buying milk and nutritious foods.
In conclusion, although I agree that teachers are better than parents in developing intelligence and social skills. I think that parents still play a great role in doing that via several methods.
Sample 9:
It is argued by some people that the intelligence and the social development of children in school is mainly influenced by their teachers. I disagree with this notion, as social skills and intellect of young ones begin to develop before they commence elementary school and parents spend more time with their children to influence their development.
First of all, intelligence and social skills of young ones begin to develop from infancy. Children neurological abilities determine their intellects and social developments which can be affected by their nutrition and care parents give to them at the early age. For instance, infants who are well nourished with adequate parental bonding are expected to be intelligent and have skills needed for social interactions, although, they need some inputs from their teachers as well. Therefore, if parents do not provide the necessary care for their kids, school teachers would not be able to instruct them.
Furthermore, children spend more time with their parents than the teachers and they can be easily influenced by them. Children's interactions with their parents begin right after birth and even when children start schooling, they spend a smaller proportion of their time with teachers. For example, in Nigeria, primary school pupils spend an average of seven hours daily at school, while they stay with their parents for more than half of the day. Thus, parents have more opportunities to impact the intelligence and social development of their offsprings compared to their teachers.
In conclusion, I disagree with the view that teachers have more influence on school children's intelligence and social development than their parents. This is due to the fact that children's intellect and social interactions start before commencing school and they spend a considerable proportion of time daily with their parents.
Sample 10:
Even though various kinds of disciplinary methods are used to correct students’ deleterious behaviour in schools, the most criticized one could be corporal punishment. Supporters of this argue that by using these children, can be easily corrected than any other, whereas others think that, due to this, children may suffer a lot both physically and mentally. In my opinion, I consider students should not be punished in this manner.
On the one hand, supporters of physical punishment point out that problematic students often stop disturbing other students in the class and maintain appropriate and acceptable behaviour. Similarly, they understand unacceptable behaviour can be punishable and this should not be continued. Take cheating in exam as an example, when a learner is corrected by this method not only assist him to change his own character, but others in the class also learn from this. By doing this, therefore, maintain a peaceful and conducive atmosphere in schools.
On the other hand, those who are against the above argument considering that, when a child corrected by using physical abuse, this not only cause physical trauma, but emotional disturbance as well. I, strongly support this viewpoint. This may have long term repercussions, that may impact on their later life negatively. A recent study, for instance, reported that the majority of the criminals who had received corporal punishment, when they were growing up. This created a rebellious attitude towards others and turn, then, against the legal system and became criminals in their adulthood.
By way of conclusion, disciplinary actions often, including, abusing children by physically, according to some; however, there remains some disagreements. I, again, reaffirm that young generations must be treated with mutual respect and dignity, rather than correct them either smacking or beating.
