Listen to Part 1 of the interview and check your guesses in Exercise 1. (Nghe Phần 1 của cuộc phỏng vấn và kiểm tra các suy đoán của bạn trong Bài tập 1.)
MC: Today we have two students with us, Hương and Viên. They are going to tell us about a survey they did on the role of women and men in typical Vietnamese homes.
Hương: Our survey shows that in general women still do most of the cleaning and cooking. In fact, many women don't have an outside job. Instead, they do housework and take care of the elderly.
MC: That's interesting. What else did you learn Viên?
Viên: In general, in families where women work, the husband and children are more likely to help out with housework.
MC: I see. And have things changed much over the years.
Viên: Well, things are changing but rather slowly. It's more common in cities for other family members to help out at home than it is in the rural areas.
MC: I guess that is because it's more common for mothers to work outside the home in the cities.
Viên: That's right.
MC: Is there anything else you found that is interesting?
Viên: Most people agree that they should help out women more at homes, but they don't always do so.
Hương: I quess we all know we should help out more, but we don't always do it.
