In this section of the test, there are TWO writing tasks, with specific directions for each parts. You have 60 minutes to finish the two tasks.

Task 1: You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

 You received an email from your friend, Alex. He is organizing a picnic for your group of friends this Sunday. Read his email below.

Hi!

I’m so glad we finally decided to go on a picnic together this Sunday! However, I’m still a bit confused about the schedule.

What time do you think we should start—early at 7:00 AM to enjoy the fresh air, or later at 10:00 AM so everyone can sleep in? Regarding transport, should we all go together by bus or ride our motorbikes so we can be more flexible? Also, I was thinking about the afternoon—should we spend time playing team games or just sit and chat by the lake?

Hi Alex,

I’m really excited about the picnic too! It will be a great chance for us to relax after a stressful week.

Regarding the time, I think we should leave at 7:00 AM. Although waking up early may be a little tiring, we can enjoy the fresh air and avoid the hot weather later in the day. In addition, the place will probably be less crowded in the morning.

As for transportation, I’d prefer going by motorbike. Taking the bus is more comfortable, but riding motorbikes gives us more flexibility. We can stop to take photos, buy snacks, or enjoy the scenery along the way.

For the afternoon activity, I vote for team games because they are fun and help everyone become closer. Since we usually spend a lot of time studying, physical activities would help us feel more energetic and relaxed.
