As foreign travel becomes increasingly cheap and convenient, more and more people are discovering new places which they prefer to their own countries and decide to move there for a new life. Living abroad, however, has its own pros and cons that should be taken into consideration.
One of the main advantages of living in a foreign country is that it offers you the opportunity to experience an entirely different way of life, which can be a valuable form of education. Moreover, one is given the great chance to learn and become fluent in another language through daily use and social interaction. In addition, many people become more independent and self-reliant by having to cope with difficult situations on their own. Finally, living in a country with a dissimilar climate and environment can prove beneficial to both one's health and state of mind.
On the other hand, even if you try your hardest to adapt to your new surroundings, it is likely that you will sometimes suffer moments of isolation, disappointment and loneliness. This can be caused by communication issues and cultural differences, especially if you cannot speak the language yet. What is more, finding a job can often be intensely competitive and stressful in some countries where foreigners are not easily accepted.
To conclude, although living in an exotic land can pose some difficulties, it is something that we can be capable of adjusting to. In my own opinion, living overseas is a worthwhile experience to consider, particularly for young people.
