Maintaining family traditions - activities passed down from generation to generation - is a great way to encourage bonding between family members and reinforce one’s sense of identity and belonging. However, keeping traditions alive requires a lot of commitment and planning. While most people attach family traditions to predictability and stability as the activities are repeated every year, some may find them intimidating, as they can be overly expensive or necessitate too much planning. 

When creating family traditions, you should ensure that activities or experiences are simple. Think about cooking days or movie nights. These traditions are easy to establish and maintain. Likewise, it should not cost a lot of money to continue a tradition. There are plenty of free options available out there that families can consider. Also, if an option does not work, do away with it. There is no point in carrying on going to the opera when most members deem it a daunting experience. For sure, no one wants to repeat an activity again and again simply because it sounds good. The bottom line is that everyone has fun and looks forward to the tradition year in, year out.
