Sample 1:

The bar charts provide information about how long people in European countries worked in 2002 according to gender and employment status.

In general, full-time employees, regardless of their gender, worked longer hours than their part-time counterparts.

According to the first chart, the average number of hours worked by full-timers was around 40, with men contributing slightly longer hours than women did. The most hardworking among them were the Greeks, with 42.5 and 40 hours reported by male and female employees in this country, respectively. In comparison, a typical length was only 38 hours for Dutch workers, while even lower levels were recorded in Britain, especially for women (37 hours).

Part-time employment figures for the three countries were, on the other hand, below the average levels (34 and 32 hours for women and men). They were largely comparable, all within a three-hour range. Similar to the case observed in full-time employment, male workers in Greece worked the longest hours (30), while the workload was the lightest for women in the UK (27 hours).
