Là trường trung học đầu tiên và cũng là lâu đời nhất ở Huế, ban đầu Quốc Học (Trường Trung học Quốc gia) là trường học dành cho con em các gia đình hoàng gia và quý tộc. Thực dân Pháp mở trường này vào năm 1896 để đào tạo những người phục vụ chính phủ. Vì vậy, vào thời điểm đó, tiếng Pháp là môn học chính của học sinh. Bây giờ nó được đặt tên là Trường Quốc học Huế và là một ngôi trường danh tiếng mà tất cả học sinh phải vượt qua kỳ thi tuyển sinh cạnh tranh để được nhận vào học.
