That means more than 7 % of the workforce is employed in environment‑related industries – such as renewable energy, waste recycling, energy efficiency, and sustainable transport. These jobs reflect a major shift: Germany’s economy now includes everything from electricians fitting solar systems to engineers planning green cities.

What kinds of careers are available? Many workers are in hands‑on roles like installers for photovoltaic panels, wind‑turbine technicians, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning) specialists.
