In today’s world, there is a noticeable shift in how both men and women view the importance of their personal appearance. The contemporary landscape, marked by the widespread use of social media and the growing beauty industry, has led to an increased emphasis on physical looks. When considering the statement that individuals today are more concerned about their appearance compared to the past, I tend to agree. This essay will explore the various factors contributing to this trend, offering a nuanced examination of changing attitudes towards appearance in modern society.
One factor contributing to this trend is the pervasive influence of social media. Platforms such as Instagram and Facebook expose individuals to carefully curated images of beauty and perfection. This online environment promotes a culture where appearance is not only a personal matter but also a form of social currency that affects self-esteem and societal acceptance.
Furthermore, the rise of the beauty and fashion industries has significantly altered perceptions of self-worth. Advertisements and celebrity endorsements create an aspirational image that many people feel compelled to imitate. The wide availability of beauty products and services further fuels the desire to achieve an idealized appearance.
However, it’s important to acknowledge that historical and cultural factors have also played a role in shaping ideals of beauty. In the past, societal norms may have dictated different standards, and individuals may have focused on conforming to those ideals.
Nevertheless, despite these historical variations, the contemporary obsession with appearance appears to be a defining characteristic of our times. The constant exposure to idealized images, along with the booming beauty industry, has magnified the importance people attach to physical attractiveness.
In conclusion, while historical and cultural contexts may have influenced perceptions of beauty, the pervasive impact of social media and the beauty industry has unquestionably heightened the significance people place on their appearance today. I agree with the notion that both men and women are more preoccupied with their looks in the present era.

Generally, people are more fashion-conscious these days. The economy has become stronger and wider, in comparison with past time, which provides more freedom to people to do what they want. Nowadays they have many more possibilities to be in trend and build their own fashion style. On the face of it, a negative wind is also there. However, I would appreciate the former opinion.
One reason for this is that these day, men and women feel they have to look good too. In fact, the majority of them believe that image and clothes are really important to give some information about habits, lifestyle or personality. Overall, a good look could influent on career or personal life, because the first view about individuals is made by estimating appearance. For examples, if person well-dressed it makes them attractive and expresses a good impression on others.
Yet another reason for this trend is the coming up of new brands. Nowadays the brands play a relevant role in the society. In fact, the brands are really important as well as the good look because it give also information about social background. Especially among young people, the brand represents a fundamental requirement to be part of a group. Furthermore, fashion changes quickly, and this is one of the reasons why people buy clothes every season, even if they don’t really have any need.
In conclusion, shopping and estimating appearance help people in the work relationship or for the young people, help them to be a part of a group.

In modern days, more and more people regarding their age, gender, and social level have started to reconsider their appearance, therefore spending way more time, energy, and resources on enhancing their looks compared to past times. I would certainly agree with this statement and will also discuss why I can’t agree with some aspects of this topic.
First of all, I would like to separate men and women due to different social expectations and norms. Throughout history, women were more likely to experience a certain pressure on their looks and behavior. That is the reason why women today spend even more time and money on their looks. In our modern age, we have a new term, "neopatriarchy”, which basically sells the idea that women should do plastic surgeries, be slimmer, put makeup on, and so on just for themselves. This is completely misleading and sets the wrong ideas for young girls. Before, it was straightforward that women should look better for their man, husband, and family, while nowadays women believe that looking better is something that they are doing because of themselves. It is getting harder to not think about it because of social media, where people post only the best of themselves without showing the actual and truthful side of their appearance. That’s why I believe that these social media content creators can do more harm to ordinary people, and it’s something that women have to understand how to stay rational and truthful to themselves.
On the other hand, men have never faced the same criticism as women before recent times. Even fifty years ago, almost none would say anything about men having wrinkles or being slightly obese. Unlike nowadays, men also have begun to think more about their looks, they have started to work out more to be in shape, and they also have begun doing plastic surgeries and going to the barbers. I wouldn’t necessarily say that now it is better than it was before because it also has some downsides. For example, toxic masculine men are usually the ones who will try to offend men who try to change their looks, do nails, change their hairstyle, or wear “women” type clothes. In this case, the problem lies deep in our social norms and standards, which are slowly moving towards gender naturality and accepting yourself, and hopefully, in the future, no one will be ashamed to be themselves.
To sum it up, there is definitely a trend for men and women, where they are trying to look better and care more about their appearance than in previous times.
Sample 4:
Today, males and females are more concerned about their looks than in the past, the essay will agree because the statement showed me something about my reality and something I see every day.
This is unfortunately sad, our society changing, and sometimes people change to be better sometimes not, one of the bad things that changing badly is concern about looks, and it’s horrible because it is not something we can choose, I know many people who did not accept their look and try to change it every day and this makes them lose confidence in themselves, In Oxford University research, it was found that most people who suffer from communication problems are the same who are concerned about their appearance.
But that happened? With time we began to appreciate beauty, however, we did not know the limit, and we misunderstood the meaning of beauty, we started asking about beauty in everything, that really bad, and now we do not know anything about the stranger, However, we judge him by his appearance. Even if he is a good person, we will hate him because of his looks.
So, women and men need to change this and be more accepting of their looks because it will be helpful to them in many ways, one of these ways is to pay attention to their personalities more and develop our thoughts to be better, I know that person how has really normal look but the special about him is his personality, this what we suppose to care about.
Sample 5:
In the present age, education is playing an increasingly critical role in every country. In the meantime, a number of people believe that it is necessary for students to finish their exercises even in their spare time. Personally, I think their view is overly simplistic and I believe there are other activities except for study which will have a beneficial impact on students.
First, joining various kinds of extra-curricular activities, such as camping and hiking will relax their bodies and minds since most students are under too much peer pressure currently. Moreover, if children have a chance to travel with their family to various places and interact with the local residents, it will definitely broaden their horizons and enrich their experience. Except that, the students who live in a needy family might need to find a part-time job in order to support themselves, if they only spend hours on finishing tasks given by the school, they might not be able to earn abundance money for their next semester.
Admittedly, students should give priority to study, and it is apparent that finishing their homework will assist them with reviewing the courses and having a better understanding. More specifically, the main purpose of giving practices is to help students digest and have a good command of knowledge. Moreover, it is common for students to waste their life playing computer games and a number of them might even be addicted to the mobile phone which will have a baneful impact on them physically and mentally. Nevertheless, I believe that students’ spare time should not be occupied fully with homework, there is abundance of knowledge in this world which they cannot learn from textbooks.
Overall, I am convinced that it is worthwhile for students to arrange their leisure time independently while it should also schedule the space to study.
