Being overshadowed by Ha Long Bay to the north, Cat Ba Island is often left out of the itineraries of the majority of travellers coming to Vietnam. Nevertheless, Cat Ba Island is one of the most attractive destinations in Vietnam.
The massive island of Cat Ba is a fantastic destination for ecotourism and adventure activities in Northern Vietnam. Cat Ba National Park, which was established on 31st March 1986, is one of the most ecologically diverse national parks in Vietnam. The park possesses seven different ecosystems, both underwater and inland. It is home to thirty-two types of mammals, along with seventy bird species, and more than a thousand species of plants, hundreds of which can be used as medicines.
There are several different hiking and trekking routes through rugged and forested mountains within Cat Ba National Park. These routes are also categorized according to different types of trekking, so travellers don't have to be worried if they don't have a high level of physical fitness. In addition, travellers can take a side visit to explore the exquisite Trung Trang cave or discover the traditional village of Viet Hai.

Đây là nơi sinh sống của 32 loài động vật có vú, cùng với 70 loài chim và hơn một nghìn loài thực vật, hàng trăm loài trong số đó có thể được dùng làm thuốc.
Có một số tuyến đường đi bộ và leo núi khác nhau xuyên qua những ngọn núi gồ ghề và có rừng trong Vườn Quốc gia Cát Bà. Các tuyến đường này cũng được phân loại theo các loại hình trekking (trekking là một hoạt động đi bộ kéo dài nhiều ngày kết hợp với thám hiểm ở những nơi hoang dã) khác nhau nên du khách không phải lo lắng nếu mình không có thể lực tốt. Ngoài ra, du khách có thể đi tham quan thêm để khám phá động Trung Trang tinh xảo hoặc khám phá làng nghề truyền thống Việt Hải.
