Sample 1:

The usage of social networking websites and applications like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok etc. has dramatically increased recently with the advancement of technology. Although it has some detrimental effects on society, its positive side has transformed the world. I believe this technology has a significant contribution in bringing people closer around the globe and also acts as a source of cheap and efficient means for communication and staying connected.

It is true that with the increasing use of social networking websites, some people have become disjointed and fragmented. Youngsters are more receptive to this change as they like to spend most of their time on these sites. This has led to many negative consequences for their physical and psychological health. Moreover, families are greatly affected by this, and their social bonding is no longer present in contemporary days.

Nevertheless, social networking sites play a pivotal role in mitigating the communication gap not only in the immediate social circle but also with friends and families in remote areas. Furthermore, many social groups exist on such sites which help people find people of the same interests and attitudes without confiding them to only geographical boundaries. It has recently been seen that many injustices and social issues were shared on social networking sites, and that made an overall huge impact. That has brought justice to the victims in several instances. Moreover, social networking sites are a common ground for mass people to share their updates, views and other details. Thus, this has created a world without any boundaries.

To conclude, I would like to say that people have become more social and interactive through the use of social networking sites. It gives people a sense of freedom to talk around the world without worrying about the huge cost. It is expected that we would try to mitigate its negative sides and reap the maximum benefits of staying connected.

Sample 2:

The increasing popularity of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter has sparked a heated debate on whether these platforms have had a positive or negative impact on individuals and society. While these sites have made communication cheaper and more accessible, I firmly believe that their negative effects on society and the community are enormous.

On the one hand, social networking websites have enabled people to communicate and stay connected with others online. These platforms offer an efficient way for individuals to share information, ideas, and experiences with a wide audience. For example, social media platforms have played a vital role in some countries to fight government corruption, as protesters used Twitter and Facebook to coordinate their activities and share their messages with the world.

On the other hand, social networking sites have a huge negative impact on society and the community. First, they promote a culture of superficiality and narcissism, where people are more concerned about their online image and popularity than their real-life relationships and experiences. As a result, many individuals become addicted to social media, spending countless hours scrolling through their feeds and neglecting their responsibilities and duties. Second, social media platforms have become a breeding ground for fake news, hate speech, and cyberbullying, which have a devastating impact on society and democracy. For instance, the spread of fake news and misinformation on Facebook has been blamed for influencing the outcome of the 2016 US Presidential Election.

In conclusion, while social networking sites have made communication cheaper and more accessible, their negative effects on society and the community are enormous. It is essential that we recognize and address these issues to create a more healthy, productive, and democratic society.

Sample 3:

A large group of people believe that social networking websites and apps like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have largely a detrimental impact on individuals, society, and local communities. While I believe that these sites have some benefits for individuals, I agree that they have mostly negative impacts on local communities or societies as a whole. This essay explains my position.

Social media has brought people from different countries together and enabled them to connect and communicate in an unprecedented way. Facebook's social groups offer individuals the opportunity to interact with like-minded people and participate in discussions on topics of interest while other apps allow them to chat or talk with others without spending extra money. These are clear advantages that online social media has brought to individuals.

However, the effect of Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites on societies and local communities is highly negative. Due to their influence, people are choosing to engage more online instead of participating in their local communities. As a result, local communities are no longer forming the strong, corroborating relationships that we used to have in the past. Society, as a whole, is becoming increasingly fragmented and disconnected as people spend more time online with people they have never met and are unlikely to meet in the future.

To conclude, while social networking sites have brought individuals closer together, they have not had the same effect on society or local communities. Local communities should take steps to involve their members in local activities to promote the future of community life. Social media can continue to bring individuals together, but it is important to recognize its limitations when it comes to strengthening local communities.

Sample 4:

Thanks to the technological advancements of our era, social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram have been in existence for a considerable period. However, many individuals believe that these platforms have a negative impact on society and individuals. Personally, I strongly oppose this viewpoint, and I’ll outline my key arguments below.

Firstly, people nowadays can communicate more easily and instantly through social media. Moreover, they can maintain relationships and form additional ones regardless of physical distance. For example, individuals can share photos instantly with family members living in different parts of the world, leading to the preservation of close-knit family ties. Moreover, these platforms enable people to leverage a substantial user base, thus facilitating business engagement with customers. Many individuals are inclined to trust products endorsed by influencers on social media more than television advertisements, resulting in enhanced authenticity and reliability. Consequently, businesses can access a broader consumer base and increase brand awareness.

In conclusion, although social media may have negative impacts on society and individuals, the positive effects outweigh the negative ones. Social media serves as an effective platform for marketing expansion and enhanced communication.

Sample 5:

With the development of new technologies, the popularity of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc., has skyrocketed. Despite its many negative effects on society, its potential benefits should not be overlooked. I firmly bolster with the former viewpoint my preference and other side is justified further.

To begin with, social networking sites play a crucial role in bridging the gap in communication between people, both locally and with far-flung loved ones. In addition, these platforms typically host numerous social groups that enable users to locate others who share their interests and worldview regardless of physical proximity. In recent years, we've witnessed how sharing stories of injustice and social issues on social media has had a significant impact on authority and resulted in victims receiving justice. Internet social networks have become a widespread medium for people to disseminate and discuss news, ideas, and other information.

However, as social networking sites have become more commonplace, it has been observed that people have become disjointed and fragmented. The younger generation is more open to this shift, and they prefer to devote the majority of their time to these platforms. Their mental and physical health have suffered as a direct result of this. Furthermore, this has a significant impact on families, whose once-robust social bonds have all but vanished in the modern era. Individuals are becoming reliant on these platforms, leading to a decline in their interpersonal skills.

In a nutshell, the use of social networking sites has made people more sociable and interactive. The huge cost previously incurred for international calls is eliminated, giving people the confidence to talk to anyone, anywhere in the world. However, as a result of their hectic schedules, most people prefer electronic communication to face-to-face encounters, which increases the distance between them.

Sample 6:

There are those who believe that social media is bad for people and society as a whole. Since people are vulnerable to developing an unhealthy addiction and social media can lead to schisms in society, I wholeheartedly agree with this viewpoint.

The most noticeable impact of social media is on users' psychological well-being. The small doses of dopamine that come from scrolling through one's feed, feeling outraged at posts, receiving likes, and making positive or negative comments have become addictive for the vast majority of social media users. While there are many ways to find fulfilment, none of them are as healthy as actually accomplishing something worthwhile in the real world. Some people would rather hide away in a virtual world where the risks are much lower, and the interactions are always one-sided.

On top of that, the negative effects of social media are widely recognised. Facebook is full of isolated communities that foster antisocial behaviour. Conspiracy theories, for instance, are a common subject of online discussion and speculation. Isolation from the rest of society is a gradual process that can manifest itself in real-world events like the January 6 insurrection and the Occupy Wall Street movement. These events have the appearance of protests, but the ideas being advocated are usually too radical to result in reform that can be defended or implemented pragmatically.

To recapitulate, for the average person and for society as a whole, social media has far more negative effects than positive ones. Governments' aversion to regulation means that users should stop bothering with these services.

Sample 7:

There are countless ways in which humankind benefits from the progress of technology. Some people believe it leads to a surge in anarchy in society. However, a few others are of the viewpoint that it gives people a global stage on which to be seen. In this respect, I concur with the claim that technological advances in social media provide numerous advantages for young people.

It's undeniable that the advancements in technology provide us with a wide stage on which to perform. A person can expand their business and network by connecting with people all over the world. For instance, people today use these platforms to set up shop online, where they can describe their wares, receive orders for them, and collect payment, all without ever having to physically interact with a single customer.in addition to this, in the modern era, people can always find the most recent news on these sites. During the recent covid-19 pandemic, for example, people were able to access information from a variety of sources, including those on the other side of the world, in a matter of seconds.

However, there are those who worry about the potential downsides to people's personal and social lives brought on by this progress. To cite just one example, people become "mouse potatoes," causing children to lose focus on their schoolwork and causing adults to waste a lot of time. Furthermore, as people spend more time on these sites, they become more introverted and, paradoxically, more mature in their thinking, as obscene content is readily available even to those with immature minds.

To sum up, there are those who believe that these sites are harmful to individuals and communities. However, I'm inclined to argue that many advantages exist. We need to regulate these platforms more strictly.

Sample 8:

Experts are of the viewpoint that Facebook and other social media websites have far-reaching, negative effects on both individuals and communities. I completely bolster such a viewpoint. My preference and the other side are justified in the ensuing paragraphs.

The first and foremost reason for my inclination is that the primary reason I feel this way is that many young people today would rather spend their time on Facebook or another international social networking site than out in their neighbourhoods making friends and acquaintances. In addition to this, people are spending more time online with people they have never met in person and are unlikely to meet in the future, further fracturing and destabilising society as a whole.

On the other hand, there is no denying the positive effects that online media has had on people personally. First, thanks to the rise of social networking sites like Facebook, people from all over the world can connect with one another in a way that was previously impossible. Facebook's social groups also provide users with an opportunity to connect with and learn from others who share similar interests. For instance, if parents send their children to study abroad can see their children through WhatsApp video calls, facetime and google meets. As a result of such social networking sites one can connect to their closed ones anywhere in the entire world.

To conclude, while social networking sites have undoubtedly brought people closer together, they have not had the same effect on larger institutions or neighbourhoods. Communities can do more to foster future community life by encouraging residents to participate in local activities.

Sample 9:

Social networking sites, for instance Facebook, are thought by some to have had a detrimental effect on individual people as well as society and local communities. However, while I believe that such sites are mainly beneficial to the individual, I agree that they have had a damaging effect on local communities.

With regards to individuals, the impact that online social media has had on each individual person has clear advantages. Firstly, people from different countries are brought together through such sites as Facebook whereas before the development of technology and social networking sites, people rarely had the chance to meet or communicate with anyone outside of their immediate circle or community. Secondly, Facebook also has social groups which offer individuals a chance to meet and participate in discussions with people who share common interests.

On the other hand, the effect that Facebook and other social networking sites have had on societies and local communities can only be seen as negative. Rather than individual people taking part in their local community, they are instead choosing to take more interest in people online. Consequently, the people within local communities are no longer forming close or supportive relationships. Furthermore, society as a whole is becoming increasingly disjointed and fragmented as people spend more time online with people they have never met face to face and who they are unlikely to ever meet in the future.

To conclude, although social networking sites have brought individuals closer together, they have not had the same effect on society or local communities. Local communities should do more to try and involve local people in local activities in order to promote the future of community life.

Sample 10:

Many today argue that social media has an overall negative impact on both the average person and society more generally. I am in complete agreement with this opinion as individuals are likely to suffer from an unhealthy addiction and social media can cause fractures in society.

The most obvious effect of social media is on the mental health of individual users. Most people on social media have become to varying degrees addicted to the small dopamine bursts that come from scrolling through their feed, feeling outraged at posts, receiving likes, and making positive or negative comments. Each person is likely to gain satisfaction through a different route, but all these self-esteem boosts are unhealthy relative to achieving something in the real world. In some cases, individuals retreat from the real world in favor of a virtual one where the stakes are considerably lower, and interactions are safely one-sided.

Additionally, the drawbacks of social media are evident throughout society. There are numerous small groups and communities on Facebook that encourage anti-social impulses. For instance, many people post and read about conspiracy theories online on a daily basis. Over time, these individuals begin to feel isolated from mainstream society and the effects of this can appear during real-world events such as the January 6 insurrection and the Occupy Wall Street movement. Although these actions can be interpreted as protests, the viewpoints being expressed are often too extreme to lead to defensible and pragmatic reform.

In conclusion, social media is an overwhelming negative for both normal citizens and the entirety of society. Since governments are averse to regulation, it is important for individuals to abandon these platforms.
