Good morning, everyone. I have an announcement about this year’s School Sports Day.
As usual, we are heading out of school for the event. The Newtown School Sports Day this year will be held on Saturday, July 15 at the City Stadium. We hope many of you will come to support your house teams.
We have a lot of events planned. Each event will have competitions including one for girls, one for boys, one for older students, and one for younger students. This ensures everyone has a fair chance to win a medal.
If anyone wants to participate in any of the track or field events, they should speak to Mr. Wilson. He will be available in the school gymnasium until 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday next week to take your names and give you more information.
We are also looking for some help. Volunteers will help with serving refreshments and assisting the track officials during the races. If you’re interested, please sign up at the main office.
Finally, a reminder that this is a school day. Students who do not attend Sports Day must present a letter written by their parents stating the reason for their absence. We look forward to seeing you all there for a great day of competition!

Read the following passage carefully. Do the tasks below the passage.
The Moon is the biggest and brightest object in the night sky. When we look at the Moon, we can see the surface is covered with dark spots. For centuries, people around the world have looked up at the Moon’s spots and seen different images. To explain these images, they told folktales.
A Hawaiian tale explains that a woman got tired of working and went to the Moon to rest by walking on a rainbow bridge.
A Native American story tells how a frog jumped to the Moon to escape a wolf that was madly in love with her.
In the Japanese version of an Indian tale, the god Sakra disguised himself as a beggar and asked a monkey, a fox and a rabbit for food. The rabbit offered its own body as food and jumped into a fire. Sakra saved the rabbit for its generosity and took it to the Moon, where it works making mochi (rice cakes).
The Kimbundu tribe of Angola see a frog who acted as messenger between the king of Earth and the king of the Moon.
One Mexican tale explains how two gods wanted to be the Sun. As only one god could become the Sun, a rabbit is thrown into the face of one of the two gods, making it darker and turning it into the Moon.
