Read the passage and fill in the blanks with ONE or TWO appropriate words
Parents have a common complaint that their children after a certain age tend to disrespect them. They look for more freedom and enjoy the company of their friends rather than staying at home. These all are the changes when the kids grow from teenagers to adulthood. This is the time when they want to be treated as big but the parents still consider them small. They want to take their own decisions but can’t because parents are there to take any important decisions regarding their children. So these issues sometimes create a problem and this is when the generation gap comes in. Even though the parents try to fulfill the needs of their children and understand them, children feel that parents are interfering in their personal life by asking too many questions. There are lots of activities which interest the kids more but parents are not willing with it. Dating as well as discos are some of the places where the young generation likes to visit but parents and grandparents are not interested in such places. The atmosphere is changing and also the needs and therefore the parents take time to adjust according to the present scenario. The things which are disliked by the parents are the things which are most enjoyed by the young generation, so this becomes a source of problem, thus increasing the gap between the parents and their children. This increasing gap is a common scenario in all the families and the parents should take the initiative to bridge the gap and take steps for it. Instead of arguing with your children and avoiding the discussion, it will be good that you take a step forward and talk to your children.
